Li Tong Group’s participation in Computer Recycling Programme

Li Tong Group has been appointed by the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) to be the contractor responsible for the Computer Recycling Programme from 2008 - 2009.

Every year, millions of electronic products containing materials harmful to people and the environment are disposed to landfill. In order to reduce the disposal volumes of waste computers and components, the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) launched a recovery programme -Computer Recycling Programme (CRP) : https://www.wastereduction.gov.hk/chi/workplace/crp_intro.htm in January 2008. The CRP includes collection services throughout Hong Kong for the general public’s electronic wastes.

Under the Computer Recycling Programme (CRP) – Li Tong Group is responsible for collecting used computers and accessories for refurbishment and recycling. The items that are accepted by the programme include desktop computers, laptops, computer monitors (both cathode-ray tube and LCD types), printers, scanners and all computer-related products, such as keyboards, memory sticks, mouse units, headsets and speakers.

Parts of the usable computers will be refurbished and donated afterwards to the Caritas Hong Kong to be further allocated to the needy.  LTG will then dismantle the remaining used computers and recover useful parts and materials.
